Nice video! The whistle reminds me of a cross between the Southern Pacific 4449 and Santa Fe 3751.

Beautiful mike, hopefully they will be able raise the neccesary funds to get her running again.

i grew up on this train, when she ran in the valley and later when my dad worked on her at the yard on w. 3rd. hope she gets up and running again someday soon, i'd drop everything to take another ride!!!

This video brings back so many memories. I work on the CVL for about 3-4 years during the "glory years" and was one of the youngest members of the MRHF along with Sam Lord. Cliff, Russ, Ed and Doug where always fun to be around, funny that we never considered ourselves to be "rail fans".

@altetz when did she last operate
-
is 4070 a coal or oil burner
-
she is still alive but being fixed at the cleveland roundhouse by the stealyard in cleveland. i seen her and the beauty is getting fixed and will be ready to be back on the rails.friend of the club works there and says this beauty will be back on the cv railroad

Occasionally the government gets it right! Both the 4070 and the 587 are honest to goodness USRA light Mikes designed during the federal takeover of the railroads in World War 1; a highly successful design.

great footage of the 4070 running thru the valley :)
i was still a young man before they stopped running her down through the valley. i had the chance of being up in the cab with my dad and helping to fire her in '90, just shortly before she was put on "blocks" at the roundhouse off W.3rd. would love to see her double head with ohio central 1551 someday out of sugar creek.

@hotrod347 Yes I had opportunities to ride in the cab as my high school pal was a volunteer "fireman" on the 4070 for a couple of years. Great fun!

Man, this video brings tears to my eyes! Growing up around her and knowing where she is now! Sad. My father was a volunteer and worked on her, so being in that cab when she was running was THE BEST!!!! I MISS HER!

I had a high school buddy who worked on her back in the 80's and so I too got to ride in her cab. That was a real treat! That's about the vintage of these videos.
