the rare 80's ohhhh yesssss

I had read that one of Dolby's uncles was serving in the Royal Navy on board a submarine that was lost on maneuvers. This song was written in his honour.

I grew up on thomas dolby and I have grown old(er) on him as well... this was my first ("favorite dolby tune) but every time he comes out with something new that becomes my new have... Long live Thomas!!

Dolby is one of those artist, that you like or love, there is no dislike to his style or hos performances!

listening to this song makes me want to replay Red Storm Rising for the C64.

glad to see no freaky outsiders came to bash this song. no....it aint stairway, but this song captures the flavor of a time that came, went, and will never return. i spoze you can dress up and revisit it at the clubs.....but unless you were there, then it might just be a song to you. i dont get thomas on all levels....but i totally love him for this masterpiece.

I take it this song was about the falklands war?
bluejeckett 1 year ago
@bluejeckett No. The lyric in the second half of the first verse is 'the Baltic Moon along the Northern Seaboard' this is a clear reference to manuvers in the the Baltic sea, the Falklands are in the South Atlantic Ocean.
