Collision at NSS during track day

Nashville Superspeedway, 4/18/09, Track day with Sportbike Tracktime, "A" Group. Onboard 2008 Kawasaki ZX10R

I collided with another bike at 120 mph (2:36 into the video). The impact snapped off my front brake lever, which I didn't discover until trying to reach for it going into turn one. I'm amazed that neither of us crashed, especially with my brake lever getting hit. I was lucky it didn't lock up my front brake and send me tumbling into the wall at 100 mph.

am I wrong in thinking that your not supposed to be within 6 feet of the riders closest to you? I've been out to the Nashville track, have yet to ride it, but was listening to some of the instructions (it was last fall) and that was a basic tenet, don't pass unless you can make the full pass, and don't ride abreast..seems you broke both of those rules,but then, I gather this is the advanced class, so the same rules may not apply. either way, scary encounter glad you and he stayed up.

Yeah, advanced group doesn't have the 6 ft rule. I didn't break any rules, but if I had to do over again I wouldn't have tried to pass up the inside like that.

WTF....this happened to me yesterday on the road! lol...snapped my brake lever off my bike...

i rode too that day.. i remember the orange and blue r6's that day (young guys) they were pretty fast.... glad you re ok

I'm the guy in the white leathers that's in front of you at the beginning of the video. There must have been people between us when the incident happend because I didn't see the collision but I was right behind you when you kept going straight. I thought you just blew the turn and played it safe instead of trying to pull back in line.
