Molly Eats Balut

I saw Andrew Zimmern from Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods eat Balut-a fertilized duck egg boiled in it's own juices and it freaked me out.
So I conquered my fears and tried it for myself.

@ocampoysabellee I'm sorry for having offended you. I was interested in pushing my boundaries in terms of what I normally consume. I was just giving an honest reaction to what I was eating not the culture it represents. You can hate boiled meats and cabbage and I won't consider it a racist commentary of Irish people. But I guess if you need to find something to worry your little head about,you can take it out on me.

The duck part of the balut is the part that tastes most like a regular poultry part in a broth. If it weren't for the look of it when you dissect it outside the shell, I'm pretty sure most people will like it. It's quite good in terms of taste.

The yellow part is the yolk - the most egg-like part of the balut. I happen to like that part best because I love eggs, but that's just me. I like that it's a little more hearty that normal yolk - like egg but tasting more meaty.

not offended here, don't worry.. you're not used to eating balut so the reaction is understandable.. and remember if you gonna eat balot/balut again, better if you put some vinegar on it then salt before you eat it and don't eat the white part because it's just hard to chew, but if you got one that easy to chew, you can also eat it.. it will not kill you lol..
