Ralph Barton's 33-minute silent movie, Camille, features a rather grotesque by Charlie Chaplin, and is re-mixed here with the music of Anton Webern as conducted by Pierre Boulez.

  • This is a really cool version of "Camille". A great cast, which included lawyer Clarence Darrow & writer Sinclair Lewis, among many more. Great post. :)

  • @fzielhorst

    you must be joking

  • The ending reminds me of the ending of Stravinsky's Orchestra Variations. Or, rather, the the latter reminds me of the former.

  • This is opus 22. Quartet for violin, clarinet, saxophone and piano.

Too bad it is played at about half the speed Webern subsribes...

  • What Opus is this Webern?

  • I c you R a Frank Zappa fan. Good point taken. Boulez is conducting only. Charlie Chaplin w/ Webern is a very interesting juxtaposition.

  • arranged by boulez? Are you sure about that, or was he the conductor?
