This video is not the actual HD broadcast but it's from a SD feed. It is still 16:9, though.

  • @canadanewsdude Sorry but local news is what you may just be looking for but I look at the overall production value.. which includes the set. I don't want to watch my news being delivered from a closed 4 wall room with green screen. CTV BC has big windows behind their anchor desk so it doesn't look as boring. In terms of local news, CTV BC has lots of coverage for metro Vancouver and I'm happy.

  • @Angad6484 well, the thing is that Global BC is still local news. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THE SET LOOKS LIKE, the only thing that does matter is the local news they've been producing for the past 50+ years. But in places like Maritimes, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg etc, it's not local news anymore because of where the cameras are operated and where the station's master control is, which are at other Global O&Os. So it's not about the "fancy" sets.I kinda liked it better when they had real sets.

  • @GlobalNewsClips also global BC has been using there HD virtual set for a few months

  • @Angad6484 yup from what i know its all green screen however the area in global BC with the red couch is constructed or looks to be anyways. the one thing i like about the green screen set is how they tie in media related to the story into the background. But it would be nice if a majority of the set could be constructed at-least in the global stations in the west where Global's newscasts do well.

  • @GlobalNewsClips Yup. Actually from what I know, Global National is done in Global BC's studios. But yeah, fact of the matter is that their entire studio is green screen.. all four walls. Only their news desk isn't green screen. LOL. Actually all Global stations across Canada are green screen. CTV, on the other hand, has 'real studios' everywhere with green screen only being used for weather.

  • @GlobalNewsClips though it would be nice if global had a constructed set with just some green screen elements. Or ofused a better virtual set such as the one on global national.

  • @GlobalNewsClips I like both to be good - the set and the news production - and CTV already does that so I'm fully statisfied.

  • @Angad6484 It comes down to just being a set and a set doesn't change how news is reported. really they should worry about delivering good news instead of fancy sets.

  • @Angad6484 well, they should go to a normal set and they have DIGITAL. They should get HD so you're right okay

  • @canadanewsdude BCTV? Isn't that Global? Anyways, if Global is what you meant, they absolutely suck with their fake newsroom, their fake set.. it's entirely green screen along with boring newscasts and they're not even HD! CTV is the best!
