Stephen F. Cohen visits Strand Book Store to talk about his new book, "Soviet Fates and Lost Alternatives: From Stalinism to the New Cold War". He's joined by his wife, The Nation editor and publisher, Katrina vanden Heuvel. The two discuss the Cold War and the demise of the Soviet Union, the ongoing challenges to US-Russia relations, and issues facing the Obama administration at home and abroad.
Oh gosh, we have a couple of Jewish Leftists telling us that we need make nice with Russia. How very original.

Fear of communism in America became irrational? Well I buy that Zero Mostel joined the party marches to get laid. But I don't buy that the Soviet Union had agents in our State Department, that the Communist party in America was a secret organization or that Cuba and the Soviet Union funded and aided the Weather Underground. But I didn't grow up a nice boy in Kentucky either.
