This is a prototype of graphic core coded in a FPGA
The FPGA is a Spartan3A 700kGate
the memory is a Sram 50Mhz 16bit*1M
a 8 bit bidirectionnal port is connected to a PIC32 microcontroller for the controlle of the FPGA
Every line of code arehome made
400*300 pixel mode in this video 32k color 60 Fps
Hmmm more i want more, every time Mooooorrreee !!! Gniak gniak gniak gniak :p
it's the crazy enginer définition ^^
but with your configuration the problème it's : if i have a lot of ram memory, have i the bandwidth to exploit the space ?
80Mhz/60FPS = 1.3 M access per FPS -> not realy
me, with my system, with 1M*16 and 50Mhz access rate, i don't have the suffisante bandwidth

Well... "The Nexys2 board has external RAM and ROM devices. The external RAM is a 128Mbit Micron M45W8MW16 Cellular RAM pseudo-static DRAM device organized as 8Mbytes x 16bits. It can operate as a typical asynchronous SRAM with read and write cycle times of 70ns, or as a synchronous memory with an 80MHz bus." and "The external ROM is a 128Mbit Intel TE28F128J3D75-110 StrataFlash device organized as 8Mbytes
x 16bits." and 28 built-in 32bit x 512 Block RAMS. It's not that much memory, i need more!

All you want, with your FPGA, you can : D
juste put a SRAM on your FPGA : D

A digilent,inc board ... i have a nexys2 with a Spartan3E 1200k gate...
And again a very nice particle effect, awesome implementation, specially with a gamepad...
