First off, I apologize for recording with a BlackBerry, but it was the easiest way to do it on the fly with commentary. This was performed on the Mortal Kombat (2011) Demo for Playstation 3 at Dark Rob's house. This is my first time actually getting to play it.

Here are two examples of a character staying out of neutral frames during a 50/50 in order to prevent the damage and hit read out from coming on screen for their opponent. This subsequently retains the comboing properties of things like specials, keeping the move limits, and makes it impossible to perform certain moves normally. I don't know if this will be fixed by the final build release.

The reason why this is so important to address is because playing against Sub-zero for example, it REALLY hinders his usage of the Ice Clone if you stay out of neutral, and there are ways to do it without really affecting your gameplay and totally controlling his. Granted, the Ice Clone itself needs a better timer limitation, as it is available far too often as it is. This will of course affect all characters with special move limitations. It definitely will hurt gameplay.

  • This happens to me all the time with Sub-Zero. When his clone doesn't work it leaves you open to attack. If it were a limiter it would have "X" number to times within a period of time, but it doesn't. Before I saw this, it would happen randomly. Sometime after 10 or sometimes the first or second one. This is needs to be fixed.

P.S Everyone else have horribly spamable moves, the clone is a tactical one!

  • @tutekki at first it seemed random to me, but I realized it happened most often after taking Sub's Xray, and noticed it was limited freeze specific properties and that 9 times out of 10 the Xray happens after a freeze. Then I realized that the moves were only being disabled at times the read out wasn't being shown. I thought about a bunch of things from previous games and decided to test something that the CPU could do in UMK3, and it worked so I applied it to other moves and characters.

  • sorry im noob

but wats neutral frames and 50/50?

  • @gilbagz neutral would be when you character isn't doing anything just in their stance for example. 50/50 would be when both players have the option to attack, move or block after a combo or knock down. The situations that cause this glitch are not true 50/50s but it's the easiest way to describe what is going on.

  • Well hopefully they either fix this issue or they want to prevent Sub-zero from spamming the ice clone move.

Is it me or did they specifically Sub-Zero as a "Zoning" character?

  • @SumGuy87 I think zoning characters will actually have an easy time against him.

  • im pretty sure sub-zero cant do the clone if he doesn't have enough room cuz u notice he jumps out of the way when doin the clone the clone doesn't appear becuz he has no where to go

  • if theyre at the other side of the screen, ice clone wouldnt do anything anyways

  • How are you on two players?

  • I found another glitch in the game today: If you kill a character using scorpions spear, you cannot do a fatality until you hit the opponent once. Normally hitting the opponent would also end the fatality state, but you're granted one hit since the game thinks they're in the dazed state from the spear.

  • What does cloning do? Just makes me die more...
