Me shooting my Tom Denall Silent Destroyer Ruger 77/44 chambered in 44 mag.

Rounds are a Lee cast 214 grain SWC bullet over a charge of Winchester 231 powder driven at about 950 FPS. The first shot on my chronograph is a test shot from my 22/45 pistol to ensure that the Chronograph was working. If you look close you can catch a glimpse of the bullet passing over the chronograph.

I forgot to bring my shooting rest and the benches at the range don't allow a stable shooting position so I kept the target at 50 yards. Even with this rather wobbly shooting position I was able to consistently perform rapid fire onto the target. Given a good rest and slow-fire i can hit that same target consistently at 200 yards depending on wind conditions. With the subsonic velocity the trajectory is like a rainbow, making shooting in the wind a challenge that I enjoy.

With my handloaded subsonic ammunition, this gun is incredibly quiet. Ear protection is completely unnecessary. Camera microphones do an incredibly poor job of recording suppressor performance, but I still hope you get a reasonable appreciation of the performance of this suppressor. Especially with the downrange clips showing the impact being clearly louder than that of the shot itself.

On the second clip with the camera downrange, when the target gets knocked over, I take the fourth shot into the Mountain Dew box on the post. The "Thump" you hear is the bullet punching a neat 44 caliber hole in the cardboard, a function of the SWC bullet. The SWC design cuts a nice clean hole through whatever it hits, making it a superb hunting bullet as it achieves very good terminal ballistics while not requiring any expansion. This means that the SWC bullet remains effective even at low velocities.

50 yards downrange the shot is virtually inaudible as is the sound of me cycling the action. The camera only picks it up because of the lack of other background noise.

  • bullet @ 0:43

  • @Pumpkin2themax Yup, the camera managed to snag a blurred image of the bullet in flight.

  • y didnt u do one without the can on it so we could compare

  • @Forbidenangel0 The can is integral to the gun. It can only be taken apart for cleaning. The noise of the bullet impacting is louder than the shot of the gun.

  • Where's the hat? It's just not the same without the hat... XP

  • @Selectedmarksman The hat is on summer break. It will be back in winter.

  • Very good video.

  • @Selectedmarksman Washington State now allows you to own silencers AND shoot them too. Horray! Kansas legalized them a couple of years ago. Even Missouri got rid of their FFL requirement so you no longer need a C&R FFL to own NFA. Tennessee passed a law awhile back that compels sheriff's and police chiefs to sign your paperwork unless they can show you're disqualified.

  • Also be aware of the law once you obtain the suppressor. You have to be careful traveling with NFA. Going through a state where they are illegal on you way to a place where they are OK is somewhat protected by the McClure Volkmer Act. Personally, I'd only stop for gas and food in such a state. Some NFA items require prior approval from BATF before transporting across state lines. You can't loan them to a friend or family member to take to the range either.

  • @battelxray Last I checked 38 of the 50 US States allow silencer ownership. First step is to find a Class III dealer in your state. Not just any gunshop can sell silencers, they have to be a Class III dealer. Your dealer will help you with the Form 4 process. You pay a $200 tax stamp per silencer purchase but no license is required.

Call Advanced Armament Corp. and they'll help you out. They are good people, and make good silencers.

  • @Selectedmarksman WELL I went to the website of the ATFbefore ever coming to see this video I was looking at the RUGER 77/357 then seen the silencer on a 44mag but all I senn them saying is that you have to be a dealer to get a lic: on anything I want to get a silencer for a weapon I Just like them we used them in IRAQ when I was searving over there I did several tours there but I looked into it and idk any other way I havent seen yet ? if so let me know ok..thanx

  • nice but the bullets were just bouncing off the metal at 1:24??? it looked like it to me lol...........nice gun tho
