  • While you're upgrading a hard drive, could you save all of your old data to a external hard drive and store into a new one?

  • @NWB1989 Absolutely. Link to instructions is found at 0:47 in the video

  • do those screws come with new hard drives? i have a macbook pro that doesnt have a hard drive in it so where would i get those screws?

  • @YourLoveLetter No, 3rd party bare drives are sold without screws. They wouldn't have the drive mounting bracket and the 4 Torx T6 mounting screws (Apple part number 922-9087) needed to secure the drive in this particular bay.

The parts are available, but OWC doesn't have them at this time. If purchasing the part number online, make sure the kit includes the four mounting screws - some retailers or service centers offer just the bracket by itself as that part # with the screws sold separately.

  • I talked to an AppleCare Expert before implememting a new SSD into my MBP and he said that only drive warrantty would no longer be covered, since it is not the original drive anymore. But all other warranties would stay in effect. It was a quick change, just make sure you really have the T6 screwdrivers available. Those screws around the edge of the back are really tiny.

  • very clear, thanks!

  • nope! and neither does upgrading the RAM

  • Sorry i have 1 question. Does this break the warranty ?
