Walther Electric IEC-309 connectors are tough. Super-tough, in fact. I ran over this IP44 connector with my car twice, and the connector still functions 100%. Seeing as how non-metallic connectors have to pass the same UL impact tests as metallic connectors, this comes as no surprise. However, metallic connectors bend - a problem that can have disastrous consequences. Walther Electric is represented in Ohio and Kentucky by Paul Davis Automation (www.pauldavisautomation.com)

  • Mmmm, interesting, but I'd like to see the car parked on top of it for a few minutes.

Also, during my PAT course, we were all shown a IEC 309 / BS EN 60309-2 / BS 4343 plug-&-coupler that had been run over by a crane that weighed A FEW TONS.

It was crushed into a reasonable oval shape, but electrically, it was still safe & functional, although the plug could no longer be taken out of the coupler. :-D

I have a few of these on my channel. Search for PLUGS on my channel to find them.

    -BBD.
