Larry Urbanski, Will Weber and I observed this juvie King Rail for about 30 min. this morning foraging in a ditch just off the North Causeway in the NE corner of the Long Pond Unit. The bird was next to a Lesser Yellowlegs, and its size (almost 2X larger than the yellowlegs) helped confirmed ID. This is a state endangered spp. so a juvenile is confirmation of successful breeding of King Rails in 2010 in SE Michigan. Digiscoped video w/ Zeiss 85T*Fl, 40X eyepiece, Nikon Coolpix P6000 and homemade adaptor. Exp. comp set to +0.7 at ISO 200 to adjust for overcast/rainy skies.
I was present to see this bird and I love this video. It's so cool the way the audio picks up the sound of the rain. To beeyond8001 and your comment below: please check your field guide(s).

With an upturned tail I would be quite certain that is not a King Rail but rather a Virginia Rail.
