Pure intimacy, from the legendary 'Bedroom Tape', featuring one of my favourite Nico songs, written by John Cale and Lou Reed, and what great lyrics. After the song, some charming, engaging dialogue between Nico and Lou,in keeping with the whole session. For further notes about this rehearsal, see my other upload.
This was the period that Nico recorded her two seminal albums with John Cale producing and it's so beautiful to listen here to her and Lou working together here.

    Nico is Christa. :)

  • They were intimate, back then.

    Love makes ice cold music.

Thanks for the feedback. The intimacy is a joy to behold. Much fire in ice and when the ice breaks ... :)

  • Cale tapped into the part of Nico which was timeless, and classic;- this is why she has lasted so well.

But Lou Reed had found his way into the lost, damaged, ex-Nazi - the fission engine which made Nico burn.

In this clip you can hear the fire without the ice - it is an education.

Thank you very much for your fascinating feedback. Thank goodness it was taped! I did download an alternative source for this tape, but it wasn't really any better than my D90 cassette here. It's good that there is a better quality version around. I agree about Lou, and yes, this recording is so, so intimate and beautiful. : )

  • @thallassocracy Nico was never a nazi. She claimed to have turkish or russian blood. Also, she slept with jews and a black guy produced her first solo record (Chelsea Girl).

  • @zzenzero I have the complete version of this tape with much better sound quality. I believe my copy is closer to the original source. Lou Reed did not want this rehearsal taped, so Nico - or the other woman in the room - hid the recorder under the couch. That's why the sound is a bit muffled. I love that you get a glimpse of a different side of Lou... he's a very sweet guy behind that mask he wears. And he was in love with Nico back then. This recording is so intimate, I love it.

Thank you very much for this feedback. It's as insightful as any comment I have read on any of my uploads. The fire without the ice is a perfect description. When I first heard these tapes, I was so moved and still am.

The thing is when you love an artist, you leave no stone unturned and you'll even write a song about her and record it.Rare music and a rare person.
