In 1969, many Americans were shocked by a LIFE magazine article in midsummer showing the photos and names of 242 slain American soldiers, all killed in one week in Vietnam. The Life Magazine of June 27, 1969 cover shows the face of slain William C. Gearing Jr. of Greece, New York. The background music is "HOME" by Gary Puckett. - KWH

  • @dkstryker -- I want to thank you for watching and commenting on the video, specifically about William C. Gearing Jr. I had remembered the magazine piece this video is about, and was able to find it on the internet. Though I personally never served in the military, I have great respect for all our men and women who have seen combat duty. I feel so bad that many of the returning soldiers were so disrespected by their fellow Americans when they returned. Again, thanks. -- KWH

  • William Gearing lived right down the street from my Aunt Lynn and she knew William pretty well before he went to Vietnam and unfortunatly never came back. I remember my mother tracing his name on the memorial wall 2 years ago.

  • Please watch in 480p definition and in fullscreen mode with reverence -- KWH
