@TheSoundBarrier probably a pos would never trust something that cheap with my life
-
@bumrralf That wasn't the case with this setup - if it were an ACOG, maybe.

It's sad that your optic & optic mount cost more than your rifle though...

Is the barrel on this particular model chrome lined? I ask because the RRA website does not list the barrel as chrome lined, but I just read a review by Gun Digest on the Elite Operator that says it is. Also, in your opinion would you say the Elite can be abused on a regular basis and remain functionably reliable? I put an Elite on layaway at a dealer and am a few weeks out from taking it home, and the more I research the more I wonder if I should go with another maker or model.

@joshuametivier The barrel is not chrome lined on the EO2. It is chrome-moly. RRA usually offers a CL option. RRA is selling this model as a special deal though - and as such is not offering options/upgrades. It is a good rifle - accurate and reliable. Are there better options? Yes, there usually are. Can it be abused on a regular basis? I suppose that depends on what your definition of "abuse" is. Most guys who own RRA gear are very happy.

how do you take off the rail system...it seems like the elite operator series has em welded on or soemthing

@ChronicCaptivation The rails are integrated into the handguard. If you want them off, you'd have to find a new handguard.

@TheSoundBarrier is that something you can do yourself or should i see a smith?

@ChronicCaptivation The handguard/rail system is typically held to AR-type rifles via a barrel nut or delta ring. If you have a good vise with a vise block, and the tool used for removing handguards, along with some mechanical savvy, it wouldn't be too big of an issue. I'm sure RRA would tell you to take it to a 'smith though - just because they would consider it a liability issue - and it could potentially void your warranty.
