Wanted: Dead or Alive ran for three seasons from 1958 to 1961, starring Steve McQueen as Josh Randall, as a sympathetic bounty hunter. This TV Western was a spin-off of Trackdown (1957-59), starring Robert Culp Hoby Gilman, Texas Ranger. The pilot 'The Bounty Hunter' aired as a 1958 episode on the Trackdown series. Here is a snippet from this great western classic. Josh Randall was a bounty hunter with a relatively soft heart. He often donates his earnings to the needy, and will help his prisoners if they have been wrongly accused. He prefers to bring the criminals in alive rather than dead. Robert Culp guest starred on 2 episodes of the Rifleman. "The Hero" and "The Man from Salinas"He does some fancy gun twirling on the last episode. He also wrote a 2 part episode "Waste". He was in a lot of westerns and did trick shooting and riding at rodeos and fairs. When McQueen guest starred on Trackdown he didn't know how to use a gun Culp showed him how to do it and in 2 days of practice Steve could draw just as fast as Culp.
Culp was in the rifleman and he wrote episodes but the freakyest thing he did was the outer limits demon with the glass hand [ and i think he was the voice of the glass hand ] .
