Here's an audio version off of Captian Beefheart's 1967 album "Safe As Milk"

Electricity
Singin through you to me; thunderbolts caught easily
Shouts the truth peacefully Eeeeeee-lec-tri-ci-teeeeeeee

High voltage man kisses night to bring the light to those who need to hide
their shadow deed
Go into bright find the light and know that friends don`t mind just how you
grow

midnight cowboy stains in black reads dark roads without a map
To free-seeking electricity (repeat) (Repeat both lines)

Lighthouse beacon straight ahead straight ahead across black seas to bring
Seeking eeee-lec-tri-ci-teeeee

High voltage man kisses night to bring the light to those who need to hide
their shadow-deed hide their shadow-deed (repeat)
Seek electricity...........

  • One of the most awesome songs in the whole universe. True fact.

  • @DinnerBells

Doubt it was the 1st used in a popular song(opens up all sorts of cans)but it's being used here extremely effectivelyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy....This is making the Beatles look like pedestrians.

  • STAY GOLD

  • Aha. My mistake.

  • @DinnerBells I'll have to correct you. The theremin, the first practical electronic musical instrument, was invented by a Russian scientist in 1918, and has been used in many musical settings, running the gamut from "Bach to Rock." Including many "popular songs" over the decades.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard this was the first time a theremin was used in popular song.

  • Yep, it's a Theremin! Like on those old sci-fi & creepy b-movies. Nutbush is a synth. Thx for the post.

  • Even my cats like it.

  • @klummp I would find it quite awesome if Sonic Youth tried to cover a Beefheart song even if it wasn't that good. I love when bands show where they got their stuff from to the public so they will become interested and look into these geniuses that seem to get forgotten so easily.

  • @MrOrbitsville ..i think it's called a Theremin that funny synth thing........and if you liked this one try Big Eyed Beans from Venus.......it's beafheart at his very very best...in fact the clear spot album is all ways round amazing!!
