Went on a trip to Munich for a fundraising event. While I was there I went to locate the houses I grew up in. My first stop was Herzo Base, which was no longer there. It is now occupied by Adidas and Reebok. Puma is not far away.
I then went to Herzogenaurach, which is about 1 km from where the base used to be. This is the village we lived in when I was in Jr. high and high school.
Then we went Furth, the community I lived in when I started school. I attended Nurnberg elementary school through out 4th grade.

  • OMG... I went to NAHS (Nurnburge American HighSchool) in the 80's... I walked to the school... Aw man thanks for sharing this. I was born and lived some time in Weisbaden also.

  • @sgtmarkins What's happening man? Yeah, I used to walk to school there when I lived in Furth. I used to live on Gerhardt Hauptmann Str. when I was in 2,3, and 4th grade. Moved back to the States for part of my 5th grade year. Moved back to Herzo Base during Junior High. It was fun growing up there!

  • Ha, that's what's up. My experience there was pretty good. Lived on this street for 4 years. Did you attend Nurnberg High too?

  • Wow! Brings back fond memories. I attended NAHS and lived on Thomas Mann (right across the street, 2nd building) from 77 until 78 then moved to a house on the corner of Beethoven and Bramhs in the Dambach housing area and was there until Aug. 1980. Going back for a visit is something I always wanted to do.

  • Thanks for posting this. I lived in Herzo, but on the base. Is the whole base an adidas plant now? Anyways, I enjoyed watching your video:)

  • Thanks for showing where Herzo Base Use to be. I Served there in 1969 - 1970. It was orignally a Fughafen during WWII and the U.S. Army took it over after the war. It was an ASA base until the Army shut it down and the ASA was disbanded later in the 1970's I bought several antique clocks in Furth. A lot of memories for us GI's.

  • I lived at 98 Gerhardt Hauptmann from 84-88

  • I was there jan 79 until august 81 c/377 fa
