A newish original song that I wrote a few weeks ago on the eve of my departure from Tufts to spend a month back home in California. This is a song for all the people that geography separates me from, not just the particularly special one that most of my songs are about. It's also about my family and friends scattered around the globe. I hate how scattered modern society is, how everyone's FROM somewhere, anywhere but where they are right now. I long for a community where everyone puts community first. So this is my song for the sadness of "missingness" and the feeling I had returning home for Christmas for the last time before moving back to California.
ps: I accidentally Harry-Potter-ified the lyrics when I recorded the video, turning "sturm und drang" ("storm and stress") into "durm und strang" (yeah... oops). But that's what the lyric is supposed to be, "sturm und drang." D'oh.
Lyrics:
these days, i can't sleep.
i've been drinkin' chamomile tea
sturm und drang, time and place,
has worn on me but i'll soon see your face.
so tonight, when all is done,
i'll close my eyes and hear the rain pour down,
and when its beat has lulled me to sleep,
i'll breathe so slow in my double bed, missing you.
these days, i can't sleep.
i've been thinkin' of where to be.
sturm und drang, time and place,
has worn on me but i'll soon see your face.
and so tonight, when all is done,
i'll close my eyes and hear the rain pour down,
and when its beat has lulled me to sleep,
i'll breathe so slow in my double bed, missing you
missing you grows old
missing you grows old
missing you has grown old
and so tomorrow, when all is done,
i'll board a plane to the perpetual sun,
and when its warmth has washed over me,
i'll breathe so deep in any old bed, not missing you, for now
I love your voice.

I like this one a lot. It has a real Carissa's Wierd vibe to it.

I found your channel while looking for a Mudbloods song and I happened upon your cover of it. I do not regret it in the least, this was great.
