A tribute to Robin Hall, who partnered Jimmy Macgregor, who sadly passed away in September 1998. Robin and Jimmy were well known for their Scottish folk songs from the 1960's through to present day.

  • Oh in the name of the wee man! "Fitba' Crazy" at the start. Even Jimmy MacGregor told me he doesn't have a copy of it anymore and was trying to get hold of it. If anyone is in the Oran Mor in Byres Road at lunchtime and sees Jimmy - tell him it is on You Tube!

    Wonderful.....

  • I have the full 15 minute program to send Jimmy if he does not have it. Jimmy if you read this please contact me.

  • Dear Alec,

I used to have the programme on video, it got passed around and never found its way back. It would be fantastic to have the full version again. I am new to youtube so am not quite sure how one goes about this.

    Best wishes,

    Andrew Hall

    ( Robins eldest son )

  • Hi Andrew.

I can send you the full program (only 15 minutes long unfortunately) which I have copied to DVD. Please let me have your address and I will send this to you.

    Regards

    Alec.

  • Wonderful. I was looking for the old song "We're sailing" and chanced on this film. Great.

  • How great to find this. Robin Hall and Jimmy MacGregora where my first ever introduction to guitar-based live music, back in early 1962 on the tonight program..., they were my inspiration, resulting in my parents buying me my first acoustic guitar and granting me a life-long career in music. So, at last I can now say thanks to both Robin and Jimmy, as if in person.... thankyou, and r.i.p. Robin.

  • Hope Alec got the video. This is very nostalgic stuff to all us born in the late 40's early fifties. I enjoy it every time I play it.

  • The ultimate class act. Tonight was an excellent shpw, and they were always absolutely superb, in their whole prescence and partnership and music. They also insoired me to sing.

  • So many memories. Many thanks.

  • thank you so much for these videos. When i looked up Robin and Jimmy i didn't expect anything would come up, but i was very pleasantly surprised. Our family used to love listening to their records (of which i have 2 only, don't know how many they did. Anyway, my mum who was born in Edinburgh and passed away in June, was also a big fan. Do you have any other videos or songs by them? It is so much appreciated, thanks!
