I agree with klsp2006 the fact that the bass is being played with the tune and then scratching; either this person has a pedal or devised it to be relatively closer for keys.

And remember, SOUND speed isn't the same as note speed on screen. Playing with the "default" or 0.5x note speed is horribly difficult because the blocks drop down too slowly, and create large bunches (esp. when you're still unfamiliar with the song).

This person could without doubt play the whole song with screen type: hidden (no notes shown) and still get great scores. It wouldn't look like anything on video though...
