What a small world, I searched for more video of this funny lady after hearing a clip of her on CBC yesterday in which she said that she's from Sudbury (where I live now). Watching this video I realize I must have grown up with her cousins in Blind River Ont, where she tells us her father was born... I had friends named Shamas that looked a lot like Sandra... :-)

So funny and sad. I grew up coming home and asking my parents what am I? and where are we from? Am I jewish? I was certain I was adopted because why else would people be asking me daily questions like this?

The kicker is my dad who was the stand-out brown guy was a liberal voting, mellow happy dude who was so social and never let this stuff bother him. Canada is racist but these days I get it from the brown people I work with, the white privilege thing. Can't win for losing mom would say.

comeon guys, lighten up! It is just idle curiosity to know where the hair genes got formed--they are very unique and lovely, why not just say, oh yeah, my forebearers came here from Lebanon. Its reverse racism to not discuss your ancestors. Go with the flow, its fun to have ethnic roots, don't hide them!!
