i've tried to use an external mic, it was bad, worse than on this review, even with a f/w udpate,
now, i'm using a zoom H2 to record the sound... when i really need sound.
( and i'm filming with my phone now... )

Okay...I have a mic with one of those spongy filters, connected to a long, long microphone cord I got from Micro Center. I'm pretty sure the mic's a "camcorder" mic, too. It works just fine connected to a computer (especially with an audio interface in the middle), but for some reason, I can't pick up any sound with the mic attached to my Aiptek camera. I don't suppose you know what the problem is, do you?

@drf22 wit hthe cam being waterproof, kodak could have placed a port behind a closed door, so NO is the answer, modding to sodered circuit is your option,and opening the cam? placing a port behind a closed door,

I'm wondering if you ever have any trouble with the external mic feature working. When I first got my Aiptek GVS camcorder I had no trouble, but recently I cannot get the feature to work. I've used different mics, replaced batteries, double checked that power was on, etc. etc. Any thoughts?

@davidrdeffenbaugh I may have, seeing the pin not allowing mic icon to go on. a little cleaning on mic pin may help the jack. but nothing to upset me
