Produced by Billy Sherrill. Issued in 1973 as the B side to his country / pop smash hit "The Most Beautiful Girl" (Epic 5-11040) and in 1975 on the LP "The Silver Fox" (Epic 33250) . This recording of the song is easily my favorite of the three I know (of the other two, one is a demo not issued until 1997's "I Feel Like Going Home: The Essential Charlie Rich" and the other is a re-recording that closes out his final album "Pictures & Paintings" from 1992). The 70's Epic version appears to be played on the piano identically to the aforementioned demo, which is of a different style than the 90's recording. This version does not appear to be commercially available in digital formats in the US. Enjoy!
whoa, that was great!!

Charlie Rich is one of my musical heroes. You know, Sam Phillips found Charlie to be one of the most intriguing artists to him, because he never truly found a way to harness all of Charlie Rich's incredible talents. For Sam Phillips to say that, you knew that Charlie was exceptional. Thanks for posting this incredibly moving song. God Bless.

As the description above mentions, this was the B-side to the Country/AC/Hot 100 #1 "The Most Beautiful Girl" & comes from a demo w/ just Charlie Rich & his piano. This was also recorded for his final album "Pictures and Paintings," appropriately the final track. This version, meanwhile, IS available on CD; there's a 2-fer CD featuring the albums "The Silver Fox" & "Every Time You Touch Me I Get High." Of the great many songs he wrote, this was/is the best; if you love this, hear the final one!
