In 1978, while attending the NCO Academy in Germany, I had the privilege to visit Lorraine, France, for Memorial Day services. I simple cannot express in mere words the way I felt that day. After the services, local Frenchmen came out of nowhere in small cars and huge smiles, offering the hospitality of their homes for the afternoon to those of us who had traveled so far. We didn't completely understand each others language but we all understood the each others hearts.

God Bless all the families who lost a love one in this war against an evil force, and thanks to them we live in a world that is a better place to live. WWII vets came from the greatest generation and after the war this country grew in many good ways, even our leaders had pride. Thank you to those families whose hearts were pierced when they received the news of there loved one will not come home. We shall not ever forget the sacrifice.
