Some people think of Hall and Oates as merely pop stars (and they were, for a while), but imagine the vast majority of pop stars today even trying to perform this song (no autotune allowed). Dude is near 50 here and he would laugh at anyone who's ever been on American Idol.

Agree with auntstacey: the best live version of this song. Simply amazing. It should be re-released or featured in a new film so today's kids can get exposed to beautiful music.

This is such a great live version. For anyone wondering, this was actually indeed released, on a Japanese-only Hall & Oates collection called "The Best of Times". It's hard to find, but well-worth it for this track alone!

I always thought that Daryl should re-release this song--this version and arrangement---and dedicate it to all the families that are "waiting "
for loved ones to return from war. ....and possibly donate some of the proceeds to the families that have lost loved ones fighting for our country.....I can definitely see this song made into a video as seen through the thoughts and eyes of a soldier as if he/she were singing it...just a thought because it is such a moving song.
