Project PROTHO is a citizen-science Prothonotary Warbler banding and observation research project funded in part by a TogetherGreen grant (National Audubon Society and Toyota).

In the first year, banding took place in the old-growth, cypress-tupelo swamp at the Audubon Center at Francis Beidler Forest. Everyone is welcome to come observe the Prothonotary Warblers and record those observations for the project's database. http://sc.audubon.org

This year, students are building nest boxes from used 1/2-gallon cartons in order to create cavity nest sites in areas of the swamp that were degraded by logging prior to becoming part of the Francis Beidler Forest.
