Police squad video of Racine Mayor John Dickert being stopped for speeding on Dec. 12, 2009 in the 1200 block of North Main Street. The officer pulled him over going 40 mph in a 30 mph speed zone. Dickert was cordial and respectful in the stop, which lasted about three minutes.
Just cause he's the mayor that doesn't mean he can break the law.

The Mayor is above the Chief of Police, you just don't give him a ticket. lol I'm sure many of you have been pulled over and not issued a citation when you could have been. It's called discretion, not like he went through a red light or hit someone.

The mayor is not a cop so clearly the blue wall of silence does not apply.

The mayor is ultimately your boss. Would you give him a speeding ticket? The video is damaging enough for his career I am sure.

Obviously the ticket would have been dropped....

abuse of discretion is unethical and is universally a policy violation if not outright unlawful. It is a form of official misconduct.

@n3wrx officer discreation.

Inappropriate. He should have been cited - period.
In some jurisdictions that would mean the end of both of their careers.

@chechnya true, but im sure the cop didnt want to end up getting fired for giving the mayor a ticket either.

If that was anyone else, they would of received a citation. Fair? I think not.
