also just found out he is using a 58 as one of his stage guitars.

@TOMMO7 Hi Tommo, you are correct, a 59 it is, much appreciate your knowledge.

@TOMMO7 It would be interesting to get the definitive answer, I feel a quest coming on!

@TOMMO7 probable late 50's. I think Hanks first strat was a 57, but I am happy to stand corrected by those with more knowledge.

Hi Andrew,
Very good. That looks like a old ,well worn , 60's Strat .

What was that all about? Sounded as though he was in a rush to get it over as soon as possible. I'd have waited for the backing to arrive if I was Hank, they could have played a couple of games of bingo instead to fill the time in, it would have been more interesting.

Point being?

Why? Perhaps the rest of the Shads got stuck in a traffic Jam? If you are gonna play solo then do it properly. It is possible to play melodies and chords together and Hank's very capable of it. Listen to Joe pass or Martin Taylor, `segovia etc Maybe they couldnt afford the rest of the Shads. More likely that Hank has been typecast all his life. His sound made his name so justifiably thats what people want to hear no matter what else the man is capable of. He always delivers
Brilliant 5* `Dance On!`, `The Frightened City` & `Atlantis`

Wow, they sound a lot different without back up. Hank's guitar playing makes the Shadows sound unique...but this just shows that Hank doesn't do it alone. :o)
