@didibaafi63 His own people didn't turn on him, he still had many supporters. However, when he threatened to trade oil in the gold dinar, undermining the us dollar, the US was not happy. They sent in CIA agents to turn the people on him, its known as the second resort after corrupting the leader when the US doesn't get what it wants. The third option being all out war when all else fails. We saw a similar scenario in Iraq when Hussain wanted to trade in the Euro.

Too many leaders throughout human history have mistakenly believed they could create an utopia in an imperfect world. Idealism or ego, or both, their efforts have always fallen short. Utopias are for perfect worlds, and they wouldn't need to be created there. They would already exist. Muammar tried, but would express his frustration that people never seemed satisfied -- they always wanted more. One can't please everybody, nor does the wise person try ... In the end, no one is pleased.
