  • I agree. I've never heard a better performance. I posted it on YouTube last week. It's his clarity, phrasing, and passion that give it that perfect sound.

  • For me, the pinnacle of all piano music ever recorded (not that I've heard all of it, though!) is Pollini's version of this on DG.

  • Try Brendel's Phillips version sometime for a truly sublime experience. This is edgy for the sake of edgy, technical skill over understanding, emotion and 'experience'.

    But I love it!!!

  • I've had the privilege to hear Konstantin Lifschitz live on several occasions; every time has been a revelation, a religious experience close in magnitude to hearing an Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli concert. I only wish that more people were familiar with his music-making. Well done, as always, Konstantin!

Incidentally, Konstantin Lifschitz is the son of my piano teacher; I've met him on several occasions. He's quite a humble person, very smart, an educated musician of the highest calibre.

  • Sublime vision of the work!
