I agree. I've never heard a better performance. I posted it on YouTube last week. It's his clarity, phrasing, and passion that give it that perfect sound.

For me, the pinnacle of all piano music ever recorded (not that I've heard all of it, though!) is Pollini's version of this on DG.

Try Brendel's Phillips version sometime for a truly sublime experience. This is edgy for the sake of edgy, technical skill over understanding, emotion and 'experience'.

I've had the privilege to hear Konstantin Lifschitz live on several occasions; every time has been a revelation, a religious experience close in magnitude to hearing an Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli concert. I only wish that more people were familiar with his music-making. Well done, as always, Konstantin!
Incidentally, Konstantin Lifschitz is the son of my piano teacher; I've met him on several occasions. He's quite a humble person, very smart, an educated musician of the highest calibre.
