Yeah, but this was before both of those. They had a tight budget, and Makoto Shinkai himself is voicing in the movie. But Loki has clearly heard an over-exaggerated version of this. :P
I remember when I first saw this movie, it was on TV early in the morning (Like... 05:00 something) on some show where they showed some anime movies and explained to the general public here what anime and manga is.
Awesome work, no doubt on of the best movies I've ever seen.
