  • How do you like Ford Excursion in general, is it a reliable vehicle? I want to by a suv and use it for towing trailers (no more than 10k). I know that F250 & F350 can pull much more, but they are trucks meaning commercial and I would have to stop at weight stations, which I don't want to do. So, have you had any problems with engine or transmission, or anything major on your excursion. I've read many negative opinions about Ford Diesels, especially 6.0L Powerstrokes but some say the Fords areOK

  • Well, in my opinion, the Ford Excursion is an awesome vehicle. About Ford diesel engines, Navistar makes the engines. The 7.3 is considered one of the most durable diesel engines available. A friend of mine had an F-250 with 425,000 miles on his 7.3 and counting. However, Navistart ruined their reputation with the 6.0. The 6.4 is very powerful, but a huge fuel hog. As for us, the only problem we had with the 7.3 was the cam sensor. That's it.

  • We have 172,000 miles on it currently, and it works and runs like new. Recently, we pulled an 8,000 pound trailer 300 miles, and averaged 15 MPG at an average of 75 MPH on interstate highway. We did have one major problem with the vehicle, and that was the transmission. When my mom was new with trucks and towing trailers, she blew the transmission after pulling a trailer load of horses in overdrive and not maintaining a high enough engine RPM. Big no no! Other than that, it's been perfect.

  • Does the door lock marker, plastic part that pops up and down actually disappear down in the hole when locked or was an adjustment just needed?

  • Very good observation. Yes, that plastic part that pops up and down needs to be adjusted. It's supposed to be about a quarter inch above the door panel.

  • That's why I love my old Ford so much, no electronics at all. So cheap to fix, and easy to replace.

  • Yep, that why I'm getting an old truck!

  • Thank you for a very informative video. I appreciate the bonus stuff on the window motor, as both my central lock solenoid and one of my window motors are shot.

  • my 1999 ford ranger had thissam problem it was so annoying

  • my dad's 4.7 dodge is $100 per door.7.3 Excursion is a bigger engine than my dad's but on the excursion door thingys are $50. whats up with that??

  • How did you remove the door panel, I have a 2003 F250 that is giving me a door open alarm. I assume it is that connector you played with to get the ignition bell to ring.. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

  • scary design

  • im no expert but im pretty sure that has never happened except for your truck

  • You talk to much. 9 minute videos with not much info...congrats.

  • I have the same door lock actuator problem with my 2000 Excursion and toss in a weak passenger front door power window motor in there as well.....cant wait to start that little project this coming weekend.... But I do love my Excursion and I will take that door lock problem from Ford over that sticking gas pedal thing from Toyota any day

  • So.............$49.00 for the dealer to do it...and $50.00 to do it yourself.?

That sucks....(I woulda done it myself too though)
