I have deep respect for Australians, but in all honesty, the whole idea that Australians can't change their flag because men and women died under it is ridiculous. Canada changed its flag in the early 1960s (after WWI and WWII) and Canadians have embraced their flag like second to none (the Canadian flag is EVERYWHERE in Canada, on homes, on cars, on buildings, and is proudly flown by a number of veterans associations). It seems Canadians are happy and proud to fly a flag of their own.

Australia should follow Canada's lead on this. Besides, I've been with Australians and people have asked them "where in New Zealand are you from?" or even worse "what part of England are you from?" Australia deserves a flag of its own that clearly says "Australia." The Canadian flag, the UK flag, the American flag, the Japanese flag, the French flag, even the Italian flag, all represent their countries well. People can't tell with the current Australian flag.
