Better quality video about a small skimmer project. Same concept as in the original video. Comments and questions are welcome!

  • can you rate approximately how big of a tank this will handle? Plus...how do you think that you can make it take on a larger tank?

  • @bwade2202 this type of skimmer (with recirculating reaction chamber) could handle a large tank 70 to 100 liters...however it depends on how much animals u have on your tank...you could get a larger plastic bottle for your reaction chamber and put 2 wooden stones to generate more micro-bubbles increasing the contact surface area between water and those bubbles...resulting perhaps in a greater skimming capacity...

  • @feedthemachine99 search amazon.com for "Lee`s Wooden Air Stone / Diffuser " or simply "Wooden Air Diffusers"

  • @jahrob

Yes it is very helpful...Only problem i'm having is finding a stone (wooden?) like that..All i can seem to find is the round sand type stones..I bought 4 different ones and none produce nearly the bubbles you have going on...Kinda disappointed

  • @feedthemachine99 good! im glad this was helpful

    Cheers!

  • @jahrob Yeah,i figured the color didn't matter, but i understand now why its needed...It also seems like the amount of bubbles being produced is key...

  • @feedthemachine99, as for the color its is not necessary for it to be green...it can be any color. The function is what we must be concerned with. The green tube on the top is the outlet for "clean water" out of the reaction chamber.

  • @jahrob

Do you find it necessary to have the green tube ?

  • Thank you for commenting !

the green hose on top is to divert the water flow outwards from the reaction chamber (plastic bottle)...the green parts could be replaced with PVC connectors...
