In this remake of Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece, Anne Heche takes over Janet Leigh's role of Marion Crane, a young secretary whose boyfriend, Sam Loomis, has troubles paying off a debt and his wife's alimony. One day, a rich client of her boss buys a house with $400,000 in cash. To fix her problems, Marion steals the money and heads out to California to live her dream life with Sam. But she gets lost in a bad storm and stops at the Bates Motel, where the proprietor, Norman Bates, lives a very troubled life with his dominating mother, whom he lives with in their house on the hill next to the motel. A week later, Marion has vanished and no one can find her or the stolen money, not even Sam, her sister, Lila, or a private detective who has been hired to find Marion and the money. But a deadly secret is waiting to be discovered inside the Bates house.

  • worst remake ever. we compared the original to this. Vince Vagn(no idea how to spell his name) plays a terrible Norman Bates. Don't get me wrong I think Vince is a great and funny actor, but I just can't take him seriously in this movie. Plus I really don't want to see him fapping.

  • Gus Van Sant's nearly scene for scene recreation of the innovative 1960 landmark miscast Vince Vaughn as mama's boy Norman Bates, the bit where he spies on Marion disrobing through peephole has an added sleazy dimension showing Bates masturbating, ugh. Vaughn is nowhere near the actor Anthony Perkins was

  • @xXsamiiiXx I agree completely. That was the biggest problem I had with this remake, it wasn't so much the acting or the sets or the shot for shot stuff, it was that the dialogue they had to use seems so forced here. It doesn't come off as emotional or heartfelt or authentic like it did in the original. Like you said it just seems that they are throwing words in the air, just parroting lines without meaning them or thinking them. Very "phoning it in" type of performances.

  • Is it possible to miscast a movie worse then this? Kinda silly to remake Psycho anyways but if you are gonna do it at least make it watchable! I mean really-- would a person be interested in "getting their walkman" when they are trying to track down their missing sibling? This direction shows a shocking lack of psychological understanding-- which is all the more terrible since psychological understanding and tension is what Hitchcock is famous for!

  • ugh this was painful to watch, it seems they're just throwing words at the air no emotion just blah blah and vince from the begining looks creepy he is supposed to look like a nice guy and anne is flirtatious and dumb but thanks for sharing i just wanted to take a look!

  • you just can't compare vince vaugn with anthony perkins because perkins would win hands down

  • this is not as good as the orginal but i still really enjoyed it. very good remake

  • Excellent , Many thanks for posting!

  • I donot see how critics hated this movie, if they loved the original, whats the difference?

  • Very good remake. Thanks for uploading it!

  • I dont understand. At 22 mn, it's written there, it's lighted, "BATES MOTEL", this lovely young lady look at it, reads it, and it's raining, and it's the same music, and she got that huge amount of money, and ... and she's going there anyway ! Chérie! Never heard of Hitchcock's Psycho? Dame!!

  • I notice this : English isn't my mother tongue. However, I understood clearly every word, every sentence of the 1960s' Hitchcock release, from beginning to end, easily, no effort. This time, pleasure mixes with the chore of trying to catch what the actors mumble ... I'm at 5 mn 23 sec and still running ... (And btw thanks for uploading the movie, Videodrome.)
