i concur. i have no idea how this and 'veil of mourning black' didn't make it on one of their earlier studio albums... both are amazing songs!

its because this and veil of mourning black were on the vinyl version of A celebration of Guilt. they just released those two, as well as several other demos and earlier recordings of songs we already know on this album

You're 100% correct sir. I just checked my copy and both of the songs (Painted Eyes / Veil of Mourning Black) are on the bonus 7" vinyl. I guess I hadn't looked at it in a while, so it totally slipped my mind - thanks for reminding me though!
