97% of this "wall" is only a fence, and it was erected IN RESPONSE to terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians. More than a dozen other countries use the same thing to defend against terrorist attacks, prevent weapons trafficking, and curb illegal immigration, among other things.
Israel is no different.

@homad89 Actually, the only place in the Middle East where you can open your mouth and NOT BE KILLED is in Israel. Freedom of speech is alive in Israel. In the territories? NO. In Egypt? NO. In Jordan? NO. In Lebanon? No, they bomb your car! In Syria? No, they close your town and kill every last man woman and child.
Israel? You might need a permit if there are lots of people coming. Say what you wish, not a problem.

@wind4watts According to official Hamas figures, 700 of those killed in Operation Cast Lead were combatants, making the ratio death ratio of combatant vs. non-combatant almost 2-to-1. That is the lowest in the world.
