In Detroit, the monthly Motor City Funk Night party has become highly popular among the party-going massive. Its set under the backdrop of original old school funk mix with elements of hip-hop, with a huge taste of rave culture. It's different but it works. Jumping on the party's popularity, the night's organizer Frank Raines started dropping vinyl records on the Funk Night Records imprint. Many of the releases have been centered around one of Funk Night's regular bands Will Sessions, but Funk Night Records did branch off into the hip-hop realm when they released the vinyl version of Danny Brown's The Hybrid at the end of 2010.
Continuing with their hip-hop releases comes a new 12″ single from Detroit's own Phat Kat for the songs "Real Emcee" and "F.A.N.S.". Both tentatively slated for Phat Kat's next album, "Real Emcee" is produced by A-Side Worldwide affiliated French producer Astronote. As many on the Interweb might have noticed, the Black Milk produced "F.A.N.S." is actually getting a proper release on this single after it was premiered almost two years ago on FWMJ's Rappers I Know. Both tracks are signature Phat Kat with the emcee talks all sorts of shit about lame fake ass rappers out there.
