In many people's opinion, and it's hard to argue the point, the greatest country music duet to ever exist. Charlie and Ira Louvin done so much to perfect country harmony. Their switching of parts in a song is incredible!!! If you ever want to know what duet harmony is all about, these two brothers can show you how it's done. Born and raised on the Sand Mountain plateu of Northeast Alabama, these two men become country music favorites on records and radio. They became members of the Grand Ole Opry in 1955 and had many hits. The Louvin Brothers disbanded in 1963, with each going their seperate ways.Tragically, Ira was killed in an automobile accident in 1965 forever ending the hope and chance of the two ever reuniting. Still very popular today, Charlie Louvin continues on. The love of the music of the Louvin Brothers will never die.

  • Effortlessly and brilliant.

  • Sorry to hear the loss yesterday of Paul Yandell. One great guitar player.

    RIP Paul, Charlie and Ira.

  • Ira's had to be be the best singer in country music....we lost a lot when we lost him.

I read a plaque in Graceland saying that Elvis and his mother adored these two.....and you can hear why.

  • I saw this video at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville this summer! I kept them in mind so I could look them up when I got home. I dig their sound! I could give a critique of the museum, but this isn't the place. Either way, they harmonize so nicely, I was a fan instantly!

  • true legends, thats for sure

  • They are great for sure. There were other country "brother" duets that were great also; Jim & Jesse McReynolds, Teddy & Doyle Wilburn, and Sonny & Bobby Osborne to name a few.

  • I am here because I named my dogs Charlie and Ira unbeknownst to these fellas. Pretty funny coincidence!

  • Classic...absolutely classic!

  • Rest in peace Charlie and Ira. No-one dies who is remembered! What a fabulous legacy of brilliant recordings they`ve left us.
