  • The most influential rock 'n roll band of the last 30 years... PERIOD...EXCLAMATION POINT

  • He's one of the best lyricists for the past twenty years at least... and has one of the best rock voices of all time. I'm not sure what's not to like about Eddie...?

  • @stretchmonster2 Beatles = R.E.M. the only difference is the later group checked their ego at the door every single time...Lennon just couldn't quite pull that off (God Rest His Soul, anyhow). So they easily deserve the most respect of any group to come out of music since rock came into existence.

  • @mrbolovski It's a shame that the smiths have not been inducted, becuase of the huge impact they have on UK, but neither morrisey nor marr must give a damn about iit, they never looked for the glory or the awards, the love from their public is enough, and peter buck thinks the same too, look his face, he hates the whole parade and this induction, he likes to play music but he's a gentleman

  • @jmactemin @kenjames64 , true words...i only come on here to watch old tunes but you have prompted me...i believe that johnny marr should be inducted on his own for being one of biggest influences in global music.. THE THE.,. the healers, electronic, modest mouse , the cribs...being a session player for "sir" bragg, our lovely kirsty macoll, neil finn and crowded house and the pretenders...his influences are astounding..you know when you hear a track by marr, its like peter buck. he desreves it

  • @kenjames64 Let me put in this way, what the smiths did it in UK for the indie , R.E.M did it in the US, U2 Did it in the mainstream, and I am fan of the three bands,

  • Che personaggio!!! :D

  • @96al i agree. too bad it wasn't kurt.

  • @stretchmonster2 Exactly. I would love to perform live, but I don't have the stomach

  • @kenjames64 True, but i just think the fact that r.e.m. founded an entire genre(indy rock), makes them that much more influential....the same goes for Nirvana and grunge...but just my opinion. All the bands you mentioned are all-time great bands.

  • @stretchmonster2 Your opinion, but without the influence of the Pixies, Nirvana wouldn't sound like Nirvana. Without the Smiths...well, I take that back: The Smiths were the most influential British band of the 80s. Also, for better and worse, you can't leave off U2.

  • @kenjames64 Definitely not the Pixies or Smiths, but I'll give you Nirvana...forgot about them.
