Music composed by Gustav Mahler. Michael Tilson Thomas; San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.

Tempo: Feierlich und gemessen, ohne zu schleppen

This is Mahler's famous funeral march written in the form of a canon and based upon the children's song, Frère Jacques, played in the minor. It is also famous for opening with a contrabass solo. (Mahler did not actually compose Frère Jacques)

  • In this moment I hear true music..

  • There's a great modulation in 1:15-1:18, but can anyone tell me the keys in it?

I believe it goes from Eb Minor to D minor (6 flats to 1 flat)

  • The video isn't, but the piece modulates at this part of the piece.

  • yes, Frere Jaques..

This is the beautiful thing about it

    it represents his youth traumas.

He was only 19 when I made this.
