North Adams Fire Department ventilated and sprayed down 3-6 Secor Ave. after a fire ripped through the building Monday afternoon. Firefighters received the call about the fire at 3:42 p.m. According to Fire Director Stephen Meranti, the most probable cause of the fire was careless disposal of smoking material on the rear porch. The building, owned by Gordon Lee, suffered roughly $50,000 worth of damage and was temporarily condemned until the owner could make repairs.
Interesting to see the men working on Pete "Butch" Genesi's home. My brother and he were friends. I would sort of "watch" the boys while they played trains and read comic books. We lived up just above at the top house on Secor Ave.
