Medical workers have launched fresh demands for an increment of their salaries and improvement in working conditions through negotiations with government. Chairperson of Uganda Medical Workers Association Dr Margaret Mungherera blames the deteriorating state of healthcare in public facilities on government's failure to pay medical workers a competitive salary.
The Medical Workers Association wants a senior consultant at Mulago National Hospital paid at-least ten Million shillings instead of the current 1.8 million shillings, which is the lowest in the region.
