Les Patterson is the Australian version of that sleazy grease ball/night club extraordinaire "Tony Clifton" who was created by the late actor/comedian Andy Kaufman & his friend/manager Bob Zmuda

I have had the pleasure of meeting Mr Humphries a few times and I have to say he is a the best raconteur and wit I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. And what most do not realize is he is also a amazing dresser, his style and cut of his cloth is admirable.

The only problem for us Poms about Sir Les was that (speaking for myself) when I was growing up in the 70s/80s, I genuinely thought that that's what high-flying, famous Aussies were really like. I actually had to meet some genuine Australian people, indeed pay few visits Down Under, for that particular quaintly naive juvenile misconception to be comprehensively cured: the reality was much, much worse. Honest.
