The beginning of a long day... Finished the run the day before. Just wanted a vid of it. Set up the lights, the camera and then came the action. Two tools are used on this part. The 3/8" em is tool 2. In the vid, it is trying to run as tool 1. The Y axes move is 60 ipm. A sphincter mounted E-stop button would have been nice. :( I also have a video of the program with the correct tool order, down loaded as "Kondia CNC - 416ss Driver"

  • I love all the armchair machinist comments on this vid. If only people could read a description and have a basic understanding of cnc machines before making comments.....

  • dabooge, Thank you for your clear observation.

I thought that what I put in the description would be enough to account for what you see in the video. After a few attempts at a re explanation of the sequence of events, I grew weary of trying to reinvent the wheel and gave up..... jim

  • What have we learned here? ALWAYS check your tool trim!

  • donnyp1966 ,

Not sure what you mean by "tool trim", but.... Yep. Check check and check again before you push that green button for the first time of the day!

Fortunately.... ahh... Unfortunately I am the foreman..... and the button pusher and the setup man, the programmer, the QC, the shipper, the cad designer, the secretary, the receptionist, the... the... ya, I do everything around here.

Do you think I could make a wireless sphincter E-Stop button? jim

  • always lift your datum and run tool above the job! . you aint a proper cnc machininst until you have stuffed a cutter into a job.

  • notice that these metal workshops are always full of gay men?

    whats up with that?

  • A sphincter mounted E-stop button - pure genius! Should be required by OSHA...

  • Its dead Jim!

  • poor collet...I made a similar mistake a while back but it just involved the wrong size drill being used.

  • Tool lenght or the zero for the top of the parts were badly done from what I see.

  • RIP Collet... =(

  • And always reduce the rapid traverse when starting a program for the first time...

Saved many many tool and clamping devices lives.
