  • The Minors are filled with Pitchers dsplaying high velocity and less-than-adequate ball control ... the reason, their Hand and Leg movements encourage Shouler "tilt".

By replacing their disruptive Hand and Leg movements with actions that produce the "Laws of Pitching", these Pitchers would gain instant recognition from their organizations.

To me, teaching a #1 Starting Pitcher's motion known to produce excellent results makes sense? Trying to copy run-of-the-mill motions does not?

  • Shoulder "tilt" has everything to do with a Pitcher's ability to locate. When you take a good look at the best Starting Pitchers, you'll discover these Pitchers have very little Shoulder "tilt". Why aren't there more Starting Pitchers with "tilting" Shoulders? Surely, there's a pattern here!

I've show many Minor League Pitchers who come to me with "tilting" Shoulders the Hand and Leg movements to keep their Shoulders level ... within the last 6 months, 2 have been promoted to the Majors.

  • First of all, your first law totally contradicts every great pitcher in present day and past day. In fact, if anything, having horizontal shoulders at the moment of shoulder rotation has shown a correlation of arm injuries (i.e. mark prior, kerry wood, joel zumaya, casey weathers etc.). Second, you list actions that happen involuntary as a result of a sequence of body events that happen prior to that action. Using your front foot landing spot as a cue will throw pitchers off.

  • Look closely at most of the Top Starters on every team and you'll see the Pitcher displaying horizontal Shoulders. Other Pitchers throw from a "naturally unproductive release point" forcing then to get by with Eye/Hand coordination and a "feel".

You'll see the word "reaction" throughout the presentation. Therefore, I agree with the "involuntary" comment.

I find when you land other than with the Front Toe pointing to the target , you throw over your Front Hip bringing the pitch up in the zone.

  • actually many top pitchers do tilt, pettite, sabathia, and almost every pitcher from back in the day did and they pitched way more than people today.

  • nasty change

  • I would be more than glad to refer you to some hi-speed video of quality pitchers. There's more to location than just shoulder tilt. Mechanics that develop high velocity are strongly related to location.

  • I just gave examples of great pitchers who display tilt in hi-speed video. Why are you only referring to starting pitchers? There are many relievers as well that display shoulder tilt who are very effective. I'm sure your intentions are good and you work with pro baseball players which is wonderful, but honestly the things your bringing attention to aren't creating progress in pitching development. These are mostly over-emphasized cues that have already been proven to mean nothing.

  • Verlander, Sabathia, Lincecum, Carpenter, Felix Hernandez, and we can go on all display tilt shoulders at the moment of shoulder rotation. Even Hamels, the pitcher that is displayed. Some have horizontal shoulders and are good, some are bad. Some have tilted shoulders and are bad. The tilt of the shoulders has very little to do with your ability to locate. Not bringing your front foot around completely would indicate that the lower body and upper body are poorly sequenced.

  • i worked with skip before
