The CHARA Array is a six-element, IR/visible pupil-plane interferometer located on the grounds of the historic Mount Wilson Observatory, which itself is located in the San Gabriel Mountains just north of Los Angeles, California, USA. The six elements are 1 meter telescopes configured into a into a "Y" figure. Using the Earth's rotation, this configuration can mimic a telescope approximately 300 meters in diameter.
