Greetings! Tonight calls for a crock pot meal. Temperatures are dropping and Autumn has finally decided to bless us with her presence. Cooler temps always make me happy. Being an Autumn baby, I am in my element during this time of year. The menu tonight is Swiss Steak.

Easy to do and even easier to eat. This dish has graced many tables for many years. A mixture of cheap meat, available veggies and time. This dish is definitely a throw back to the 50's or even earlier.

Cube steak, one of the cheapest cuts of meat in the butcher's case is transformed into a delectable main course, fit for company. Your family is going to love this rich, tomatoey, oniony gravy and melt in your mouth steak. Pair this with mashed potatoes and your favorite veggies and you are in for a treat.

I hope you try this and I hope you enjoy it. As always, Happy Eating!

  • This is in my crockpot as we speak! I had to alter a bit cause of my ingredients on hand, but i'm thinking this will be my go to recipe for swiss steak....and I live alone so it will be ALL MINE!

  • Love this!

  • Hi Noreen - I watched this the other day and it looked so good I made it for my family on Sunday!! We're eating leftovers tonight over butter noodles :) super easy, budget friendly and delicious!! Thanks for a great recipe!

  • I remember this!

I want to make it for my two boys...

    One thing?

Have you ever added slivers of green pepper?

I seem to remember green pepper was in it when I was little - but I'm not sure.

    Looks good (as always)

  • Awww ! You guys are too cute together , thats why you are my favorite you-tubers....you remind me of my mom n pop....

  • Everything you make looks amazing. I am definitely going to have to try this one.

  • Never knew why it was called swiss steaks. Cool!

  • reminds me of what my mom used to fix and still does. we'd have it over rice..yummmy. Mom did her on top of the stove in her biggest fry pan, which I told her to will to me when she dies. there is something about the magnalite cookware that is awesome!!! The pan is like 51 years old and going strong

  • Thanks Noreen and Rick, you have totally made my whole crockpot season!! Do you have more than one crockpot? I've found that different crockpots cook at different times. My crockpot is HUGE!!! I also use a Christmas Tree timer to make my crockpot "programmable". I couldn't afford a real programmable crockpot.
